The Mowanjum people comprise three
language groups, the Worora, Ngarinyin and
Wunumbal. To these people, the Wandjina is
the supreme Creator, and they continue to
paint the Wandjina image as they have for
millennia, on cave walls, bark, and now,
canvas. From the air, the new arts and culture centre
appears as a giant Wandjina. Situated at the beginning
of the Gibb River Road, the Centre features a gallery,
artists’ studio space, a museum, a 50 seat theatre and
outdoor cultural interpretation displays.
